ALD Engineering & Construction LLC has developed OBERIH, a reinforced primary mobile shelter, in accordance with the new Ukrainian national standard DSTU 9329:2025, “Primary (Mobile) Shelters. Main Parameters and Test Methods.” This development builds on the company’s work in modular protective structures, which it has been pursuing since 2022, drawing on its experience in manufacturing, testing and installing shelters for businesses and communities.
The shelter is available in versions accommodating 20, 30, 40 or 50 people. It is intended for short-term occupancy of up to four hours and for reducing the indirect effects of conventional weapons during hostilities.
Particular attention was paid to enabling people with reduced mobility to use the shelter independently. The design includes ramps, threshold-free doors, non-slip flooring and designated wheelchair spaces. The interior is equipped with natural ventilation and electric lighting.
“Since the beginning of the war, we have installed more than 400 shelters for businesses and communities across many regions of Ukraine. This experience helps us improve our structures and address people’s needs. In ALD’s new generation of shelters, we have combined practical experience with the requirements of the new national standard, paying particular attention to protective performance and accessibility, especially for people with reduced mobility,” said company founder Oleksii Lebediev.
OBERIH’s structural design and layout combine protective performance, accessibility and a carefully planned interior. The shelter is built using precast reinforced concrete wall, floor and roof elements. The dimensions of the modules allow them to be transported using existing vehicles.
The design addresses resistance to air blast waves, fragment penetration and secondary concrete fragmentation on interior surfaces. The layout includes a main room, two entrance vestibules and two entrance landings, with entrances and exits positioned apart from each other.
A sample of the OBERIH primary mobile shelter underwent full-scale tests conducted by the Scientific Testing Department of the National Defence University of Ukraine. The results were recorded in Test Report No. 752-В/2026. According to the report’s conclusion, the sample passed testing for resistance to air blast overpressure of at least 100 kPa and to secondary concrete fragmentation on the interior surface, in accordance with Clause 5.1 of DSTU 9329:2025.
ALD Engineering & Construction LLC has experience delivering modular protective structure projects to protect people in communities, at industrial enterprises, infrastructure facilities and municipal institutions, as well as to meet the needs of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the Patrol Police.
