Specialists at ALD Engineering & Construction LLC have completed an important stage of work as part of the project to construct a new gas-cleaning unit in Sinter Shop No. 2 at KAMET-STEEL PrJSC.
To conduct a comprehensive assessment of the technical condition of the shop’s buildings and structures, the company’s specialists used the advanced XGRIDS Lixel K1 3D scanner. The equipment captures the actual geometry, dimensions and locations of structures with high precision, enabling a detailed digital model of the facility to be created from the collected data.
Remote scanning reduced risks to personnel and enabled the required measurements to be taken without employees having to enter potentially hazardous or difficult-to-access areas. This is particularly important when work is carried out at operating industrial facilities with an elevated level of risk.
The digital model reflects the facility’s actual condition and is used during the design, analysis and planning of construction and installation work. 3D scanning provides high-precision geometric data, records the actual condition of structures in a digital format, integrates the collected information into design models and enables the early identification of potential spatial conflicts.
“ALD Engineering & Construction specialists use modern digital technologies that enable highly accurate data on the condition of structures to be obtained without involving employees in work within hazardous areas. This not only improves the quality of design solutions but also represents an important step in implementing the Vision Zero principles across our projects,” said Kostiantyn Burlachenko, Project Manager for Occupational Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Environmental Protection at KAMET-STEEL PrJSC.
ALD Engineering & Construction systematically uses its own equipment to conduct remote surveys of buildings and structures during the implementation of industrial and infrastructure projects. Modern digital technologies and employee safety are integral components of the company’s comprehensive engineering approach to the construction, reconstruction and restoration of facilities.
