General Director of a large construction company "ALD Engineering and Construction" Oleksiy Lebedev spoke with students as part of the project "My Career in Ukraine "

It is the sixth year consecutive, the project" My Career in Ukraine "is being implemented in Ukraine. Its goal is to show students opportunities for self-realization in our country and inspire them to make a conscious choice of profession.

The project is organized by the Center for Corporate Social Responsibility Development, Career Hub platform and the First Ukrainian International Bank. Students of grades 9-10 take part in it, as during this period of study children think about their future life and choice of profession. Such projects should inspire them to further education and dispel fears and fake stereotypes about different professions.

This year, 1,400 children submitted motivation letters to participate in the My Career in Ukraine project. Among them, 300 of the best were chosen. They were able to meet with experts online. The experts told them interesting facts, advantages and challenges of their profession, life hacks of a successful career and the history of their formation during the live chat.

Development of the country depends upon construction.

Students have already met with experts in medicine, services and media. The last career meeting was dedicated to industry and production. It was attended by experts in the metallurgical, construction, agricultural and food industries.

General Director of the large Zaporizhia construction company ALD Engineering and Construction, Oleksiy Lebedev was invited to the event as an expert in the construction industry. He devoted 20 years of his life to industrial construction. It was ALD Engineering and

Construction that implemented such a large-scale project in Zaporizhia as the construction of a powerful oxygen station at the Zaporizhia Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital. The company also has experience in implementing environmental projects, such as equipping the tail parts of sintering machines at the Zaporizhstal plant with modern gas cleaning systems and others enterprises.

During the online event, it turned out that students are interested in construction, but do not seriously consider entering specialized schools. This is due to the lack of popularization of construction among young people and widespread stereotypes of unpromising and unprofitability of this profession. All doubts of schoolchildren were dispelled by the General director of "ALD engineering and construction" Oleksiy Lebedev, He has talked about a wide range of advantages of this specialty.

  - The main advantage is development of the country in all directions. There would be no industry, no infrastructure, not even agriculture without construction. The issue of environmental friendliness of enterprises is also construction. After all, iron and steel works will not install purification plants. They should be manufactured and assembled only by builders.

Another advantage of the construction industry is the possibility of implementation in various spheres of life. If you are fond of metallurgy, you can go to industrial construction, if roads or airports to infrastructure, if technology to engineering. In this profession, everyone can choose any direction for themselves, and if possible even change it.

Personally, I chose the profession of a builder because every day I face new challenges and tasks. There is never a routine here. Even if we build similar in engineering objects, they still differ in their location, constraints, and so on. This is what I appreciate in my profession. I like to receive new challenges and successfully fulfill them, - said Oleksiy Lebedev.

The profession of a builder can attract a high salary. After all, today there is a shortage of specialists in the labor market. As a result, employers offer employees very favorable working conditions and high wages.

 - Today, about 87% of the country's infrastructure is in poor condition. It can lead to serious problems. Our country needs specialists in the construction industry in order to upgrade them. But, unfortunately, they are not enough specialists today, there is a large deficit. There are very few people who know and can implement successful projects. Therefore, you have all the chances to become high-class specialists with great prospects, - said Oleksiy Lebedev, General Director of ALD Engineering and Construction.

Note that according to world statistics, one job in the construction industry can create from four to seven jobs in related fields.

Secondary school students are afraid of difficult learning and hard work.

Many secondary school students admitted during the meeting that they are afraid to go into construction because they consider this industry obsolete. It looks like hard physical work in the eyes of children. There are no automated processes and innovations. To prove the opposite, Oleksiy Lebedev gave students an example of building a blast furnace №3 at the Zaporizhstal plant. State-of-the-art technologies were used.

-We faced with the shortest possible time and a very large amount of work, when we started project implementation 5 years ago.  Of course, it was unreal to complete work manually. State-of-the-art technologies helped us. We used electronic programs, 3D modeling and even the makings of artificial intelligence, which found errors in the drawings and analyzed our project. This allowed us to identify shortcomings before construction began, to promptly correct them and put the facility into operation on time, - said Oleksiy Lebedev.

Another problem on the way to employment, children consider long and difficult training. After all, construction is an extremely responsible job.

 - I want to point out that it is necessary to study long and hard in any specialty. Of course, if you want to become a high-class specialist. From school years you should understand that you can’t succeed without quality education. In my opinion, training should not end after graduation. In a dynamic world that is constantly changing, learning something new is important every day, regardless of the profession or industry in which you work, - said Oleksiy Lebedev.

Success is behind courage and a clear goal.

The General Director of ALD Engineering and Construction, Oleksiy Lebedev shared his secrets of success for the participants of "My Career in Ukraine" the project.

 - I was never afraid to take on risky objects and believe it helped me to succeed in construction. I never had any doubt that I would achieve my goal. In all, I never gave up even in the most difficult tasks. I gained a great experience. Now I can say with confidence that I participated in almost all large-scale projects implemented at metallurgical enterprises in Zaporozhye over the past 5 years. Love for work is not less important. Whatever profession you choose, you must love it. So, you can give all your strength and skills to successful realization as a cool professional. The most importantly is you need to have a dream now. For it to come true, you have to set a specific goal. Never change your dream for a profit and laziness. Everything you have planned will come true, - shared Oleksiy Lebedev.

Note that "My career in Ukraine" project covered more than 4 thousand students over the 5 years. More than 400 most active participants met tens of successful people, scientists, top managers of government agencies and leading companies: FUIB, 1 + 1 media, IT integrator, UNIT City, Kyivstar, Arzinger, Arterium, Film.ua, Projector, publishing house "A-ba-ba-ha-la-ma-ga", NAS of Ukraine, UNICEF, UN Population Fund, National Police, National Police of Ukraine, MES, Ministry of Youth and Sports and many others.
